Afterwork: Levels, contrast, a bit of hue&saturation changes.

As most of my watchers already know. I am a fanatic about programs to help fund wildlife education an support. This past summer I went to a facility a young gentlemen volunteering for our local Zoo recommended; E.F.R.C.

The E.F.R.C. or Exotic Feline Rescue Center, I visited. Of course, who could past up wild cats, certainly not me. As I took the tour, and listened to some of the horror stories surrounding the rescue of these big cats I had to, once again, hate the idiots that believe such animals can be turned into pets.

The E.F.R.C. does not breed animals, their mission is to rescue and reclaim wild cats that do not belong in anyone's backyard. So, today I ask for some help for the people who give their time and care to saving all they can.

Second Annual Saving the Big Cats Charity Auction

On January 17 (Saturday) for the E.F.R.C. second
annual Saving the Big Cats Charity Auction. It promises to
be a great day for the EFRC and all of our supporters as we
gather at the Robert Irsay Pavilion in Carmel, Indiana, for
three hours of food, drink and music, all the while
enjoying both our multiple silent and live auctions! Our
thanks to Nancy Irsay for opening the Pavilion for this
special event.

Last year, the inaugural Saving the Big Cats Charity
Auction raised nearly $25,000 for the EFRC and its big
cats. Max, a male tiger, made the journey to Carmel on
that day and served as a wonderful, 300-pound reminder of the amazing work being done at the EFRC. With your help we plan to raise $30,000 this year to benefit the EFRC. There will be a special "feline ambassador" from the EFRC on hand once again, so come to the event to find out who!

With an even better event planned for this year, we need
your support to make it truly special! All guests will
enjoy complimentary food, drink and music at the auction as they puruse the expansive display of silent auction items. Our live auction, featuring approximately 12 premium items, will highlight the day. Thanks to Steve Newby and Conversation Pieces for donating their musical talents for this event, The Daily Grind, Sheridan, Indiana, for donating the catering and to Upland Brewing Company,
Bloomington, Indiana, for providing their micro-brew beer
for our guests of legal drinking age.

The auction will take place on Saturday, January 17, from
3:00 pm through 6:00 pm. We will feature multiple silent
auctions and a live auction of premium items. Advance
ticket sales are available at the EFRC website for $20
(through 1/14) and then at the door for $25. For more

This description reminds me of a story I heard recently from my aunt, who lives in Hollywood and all that entails. SO... she was recently casted to film for a new show called, "I've Been Bitten." A series of full-hour reenactments of people who have been bitten by wild animals. They took her to this wildlife "resort" way up in the hills somewhere... filled with animals who, like in your resort, was stocked completely with animals who people thought they could keep as pets. She got to work with one of the tigers there. The shoot went well, but the story of the woman who was originally bitten was sort of interesting--if you get the Discovery channel the show will pick up again this month. I've heard it's very good, although my sources may have been biased. :)

The point underneath this being that wild animals should not be kept as pets, and thank goodness for these places that rescue the victims of stupid people's mistakes!

Now, beautiful shot. You do show the pictures to the rescues' workers, don't you?

They fry and grill themselves before our eyes, saying, "Does not the sweet scent of our cooked bodies tempt you? Fry us with butter; we are delicious. Boil us, grill us, stew us; we are good all ways!"

Pretty! Hope the auction makes lots of money.

Mwahahaha. My avatar is a bike! Bwahahahaha!

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin

Yeah. You would not believe the horror stories these volunteers can tell. Frightening. And unfortunately I haven't shown these shots to the workers, as I have not been back to the facility. I do love this one, though.

I'm glad to see you're back :)
Secondly this is a beautiful image, as are all of your photos, he looks so hauntingly serene.
And I hope that they make a lot of money for the auction too, animals really deserve better than we can give them.

Me too. I'd be surprised if they don't ask you to do this professionally, for gifts shops or whatnot. Is that what you hope to do eventually? Not taking photographs for park gift shops, of course, but taking animal photographs in general?

You take such lovely pictures of the kitties.

My only criticism is he looks underexposed. I suspect that was a necissity though to get a shot free of camera shake?
:iconladynightseduction:
Mmh. You guessed it, dark area, I had to step it down.

Thank you darlin. I did not attend the auction, I wish I could have done so, other commitments kept me out.
